About the interview for female members

Maezawa from the President’s Office here. Once staff members become experienced, some men come to trust them personally and say they’ll make an offer if that staff member recommends someone. So if a staff member thinks, “This woman is the best I’ve ever seen,” it may seem as though that influences the offer. However, women like that receive offers in droves without any help, so it’s hard to say whether the staff member’s influence really made a difference. So, does a staff member’s ability affect the number of offers? It might have some influence, but probably not much. In the end, I feel that about 90% is determined by the woman herself. The important thing is how she comes across during the interview. We try to record the interview details so we can convey as much as possible to the men. If a woman thinks her conversation with the staff member isn’t important, it could end up being described as: “She was a woman who was difficult to engage in conversation,” which may affect whether she receives an offer. That’s why I think it’s best to treat the interviewer as if they were your first date. Also, the staff member’s photography skills can have quite an impact. We’re working to reduce differences in photography quality, but there are still real variations, so this is a difficult area to give a definitive answer on.
