A basic question: If she’s a Type B, I assume you part ways after dinner or something on the day of the first meeting. In that case, how much allowance do you usually give?

The allowance I offer for an adult relationship is pretty modest, but I’ve never sent someone home with 10,000 yen or less just because it was dinner only. That said, when a woman asks for 20,000 yen or more upfront, it makes me lose interest in meeting her.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. I only give 1, but if you want to be well-liked, you could always choose to give a little more.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here. Since the first date is a meal arranged through the club, I think it’s standard to give the usual ¥5,000–¥10,000 transportation allowance. However, if you’re going to an aquarium or out for drinks after the meal—which lasts around two hours—you should provide a proper allowance. That said, it would be a shame if future meetings ended over the amount of the allowance, so I think it’s best to wrap things up after dinner only (around two hours).
