I’m going to say something a little harsh… Contestants who are asked to raise money during the second round almost always pass. The organizers are running a business, so I suppose it can’t be helped. And in many cases, the grand-prize winner has already been decided. But even if you don’t win the grand prize, you may still pass and make your debut, so you won’t know unless you give it a try. I think the organizer’s impression will vary from one organizer to another. That said, I feel you may be accepted if they think you’re someone who could really shine with a little polishing.

I’m in Seattle. I don’t think your background or clothes matter. There’s a Japanese saying about a crane among a heap of rubbish. Someone who looks plain at first but turns out to be beautiful might actually appeal more to the older man doing the screening. Lately, I’ve been fascinated by Marina Fujiwara, the inventor. I’d love to stand out through some amazing special talent like hers.
