Hello. Is it difficult to meet one of the people answering here without receiving an offer? For example, would it be against the rules to make a reverse offer, have the club arrange the offer, and meet without requiring transportation costs or an allowance? They say time is money, and this isn’t just about money, so I suppose it would still be difficult?

I’m in Seattle. If the respondent has written a column, it’s best to leave a comment on the column.

I’m Kamihikoki, a male member. I suppose your only option is to accept the offer. As a male respondent with experience at the club, I think sending a counteroffer can be a worthwhile life experience in itself. If you feel like it, you should reach out.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think it depends on the person. Why not try contacting the person you’re interested in through Maezawa? I think it would be a good idea to explain why you’d like to meet them. The allowance is a matter between the members, so that shouldn’t be an issue. As for transportation costs on the first date, that’s a club rule. You could accept the transportation fee first to fulfill the rule, and then the questioner could give the respondent the same amount, effectively canceling it out. Just to be clear, even with a reverse offer, male respondents still have to pay the club’s setting fee. That said, they’re probably the kind of people who wouldn’t mind paying the fee if the meeting sounded interesting, so I doubt they’d turn you down simply because they had to pay it. If they do decline, it would most likely be because of their schedule, as you suggested. I didn’t answer the question at the beginning. I think it would be difficult to meet the respondent through a method other than an offer, and even if there were a way, I don’t think you should take it. If you learned about them through the club’s Q&A box, I feel it would be appropriate to let the club earn its fee.
