If anything, they seemed so kind that I almost wondered whether they were being too kind, so it made me realize once again that there are all kinds of staff out there... Not that this is necessarily a case of learning by negative example, but how was your attitude, by the way? People are like mirrors, after all. I personally dislike the service at the Ritz-Carlton Tokyo so much that I genuinely can’t stand it, but I’ve often reflected on whether my own attitude might be the reason. Still... I just can’t bring myself to like it. If I were a hotel employee, I would never treat someone that way. Thinking about it like that, perhaps you really weren’t at fault after all.

If you contact us through the inquiry form below the question box and address it to “Maezawa,” I’ll look into it. That said, all women who attend interviews should be given a survey asking them to evaluate how the interviewer handled things. Didn’t you fill it out? The purpose of the survey is to help eliminate staff members like that, so if you felt uneasy, it’s best to give honest feedback. If there’s negative feedback, the person and their supervisor will discuss it right away, including how they can improve going forward. (That is, assuming the supervisor isn’t slacking off.)

I don’t know which branch or staff member it was, but as a fellow male staff member, I sincerely apologize. I can’t even picture what “sitting in a half-asleep state” looked like. Do you mean he was practically lying on his back? That’s an unbelievable way to conduct an interview… Could it have been some kind of strategy or intention—perhaps testing whether he could handle a woman who was acting disrespectfully? I can’t imagine that being the case at all. If a woman feels intimidated, she won’t be able to ask or learn what she needs to know. Since you’ve become a member, I assume you have a LINE contact for communicating with us. If you happen to remember which branch and who it was, could you let us know through LINE or our contact form? I suspect he may have acted that way without realizing it, so I would really appreciate your cooperation in helping us improve. That said, I’m now wondering, “What if it was me…?” I’d like to believe it wasn’t, since I don’t have that kind of intimidating presence, but if it was me, I would offer you my sincerest apology and consult with my supervisor about what I could do to make amends.
