At Universe, what rank would someone with average high school looks—“usually the prettiest girl in her class” or “one of the top three in the school”—be considered?

This is Saito, the columnist ♪ I’d say somewhere around Platinum… If she knows her own worth, and gets extra points not just for her looks but also for her clothing, hair, and overall grooming, she might qualify as Black. That said, I think there are plenty of men who want to support inexperienced women like you, so try learning more about it in practice.

It’s difficult to judge someone simply by saying they’re “the best-looking in their class,” since it depends on the overall level of the class. But even if she were the best-looking girl in an average class at an average school, she might still only be ranked Gold in Tokyo. At a regional branch, though, I feel she’d probably be Platinum. There are actually quite a few women who have always been told they’re cute and considered themselves among the best-looking in their class, only to be rejected when they try to register. We also see many women where you wonder, “Why was she rejected?” Of course, we don’t judge based on looks alone—we evaluate applicants comprehensively. That said, the selection standards seem to have risen recently. Personally, I sometimes think we could increase the number of female members, but from a man’s perspective, perhaps seeing nothing but beautiful women makes Universe seem truly amazing.
