I’m wondering about the risks of dating a married person. I’m married too, so it’s mutual, but I’m unsure whether to approach a married woman. Even knowing we’re in the same situation, I still want to ask: Is dating a married person really that risky?

I’m not really in a position to sound authoritative, but I feel that thinking “we’re both equally responsible” rarely leads to anything good. That said, saying “I’ll take responsibility if it comes to that” is questionable too, since there are situations where responsibility can’t really be taken. Resolving things with money is relatively effective, but if you’re asked for a nine-figure sum, can you actually afford to pay it?

If you’re a male member, perhaps you should consider the risks for yourself. Besides, if you’re completely unwilling to take any risks, then the question becomes whether a married man should be doing papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) in the first place. Proceed at your own risk. There may be wonderful married women out there too, so it’s hard to say.
