I’ve only made offers locally until now, but recently I’ve been traveling to Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo more often for work. So I’m thinking about making offers at my destinations as well. When you stay at a city hotel, do you book the room for two people? Locally, I only use love hotels.

Basically, you book for two people.

There isn’t really that much of a price difference between booking for one and booking for two…

Bringing another woman in when you’ve booked for one is essentially the same as calling an escort service, so I assume people who do it are accepting responsibility for their own actions.

Single rooms are often cramped, so I feel it’s better to book a twin or double whenever possible—it’s a little more comfortable for the woman.

If the woman isn’t staying overnight, get a twin or double room.

If she is, book a twin and a single room. She can stay in the twin, while you stay in the single.

You can also stay alone in a twin room.  
(If there’s no meal plan, the price is usually the same for one or two people in a twin room. It may be different if the hotel has a single-use rate.)  
It’s convenient to book a twin because there will be two bath towels, too.

You may be able to request an extra bath towel in a single room, but I think it’s better to have one there from the start. (笑)

By the way, hotels don’t provide condoms, so make sure you remember to bring your own.

I check the hotel’s accommodation policy: if she stays past the time limit, I count it as two guests; otherwise, I count it as one.

As I wrote in my column, before COVID I also used to make offers in other cities when I was traveling for work.

If you book a room for just one person, there may only be one set of towels, or you might get stopped at the front desk. It looks awkward and isn’t very smooth, so I booked the room for two people instead.

Even if you change the booking from one person to two, the price probably won’t change much if it’s just one double room.
