They’ve only taken you to seriously awful places, haven’t they… Poor you.
I’m not saying conveyor-belt sushi is bad, but I don’t think it’s delicious.
I do like food that’s both affordable and tasty, but I really hate being taken to restaurants where you get what you pay for—in the worst way.
Sometimes expensive food tastes terrible, but even then, a restaurant in a city hotel is still preferable, if only because there usually aren’t as many women my age there.
Can a relationship last with someone whose taste in food doesn’t match yours?

I haven’t been to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in a while, so I wasn’t familiar with it, but I looked up Muten Kura Sushi.
Apparently, there are only four locations in Osaka.
The questioner probably mistook it for a regular Kura Sushi.
It’s nice to make new discoveries when you look things up. Now I’m kind of interested in going there myself.

I think the atmosphere and the price can sometimes make something taste better.
I’m of the opinion that it’s basically the same since it’s the same fish. They’re both delicious. Muten Kura is good too.
Honestly, I don’t like sitting at cramped counters, so I have more fun sitting at a conveyor-belt sushi place with someone I’ve known for years. You can freely use the touchscreen, and it’s more enjoyable than an expensive sushi restaurant.
We do occasionally go to sushi restaurants too, but things are going well with someone who can enjoy conveyor-belt sushi, and I’m happy with that.
I always make sure to give her the allowance in cash.

After reading your previous question and this one, I was reminded that, just like food preferences, people’s preferences in the opposite sex vary widely.
Even when two people’s tastes in food don’t match, a relationship may continue if everything else about the person is wonderful. On the other hand, it may not last if that isn’t the case.

It sounds like you’ve been taken to some truly wonderful restaurants, questioner.
I’ve eaten sushi locally as well, so it’s not like I have no sense of taste. The counter seats aren’t the only place where the food is good.
You do understand that just because someone pays, that doesn’t mean anything goes, right?

On the TV show *Celebrity Taste Test*, even celebrities who eat lots of fine food often can’t tell the difference, which makes me think that’s probably the reality.
We’re probably influenced by appearances, the atmosphere, and the assumption that something tastes better because it’s expensive. In a way, we’re paying for the setting and the presentation, too.
Whether someone finds conveyor-belt sushi delicious or not is simply a matter of their own palate and sensibilities, so let’s accept that.
Personally, I love conveyor-belt sushi, and I also enjoy counter-style sushi. I like the atmosphere and the way the food is presented, too.
I wonder why I find women who say they like conveyor-belt sushi more appealing.

I have a high threshold for what I consider delicious, but a low threshold for food I find so bad I can’t eat it. So I rarely complain about meals, but I dislike people who complain about food.
That said, this is a separate matter from the restaurants I’d actually want to visit on a date.
There was also this older Osaka guy who kept saying, “Restaurants in Tokyo are expensive and bad, while Osaka has tons of places that are cheap and delicious.” I thought, “Mind your own business.” It really started to annoy me, so I didn’t continue seeing him.
