I don’t think it was a good fit.
In your case, it sounds like it ended in failure.
papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) apparently isn’t easy to succeed at unless you have a certain level of personality and intelligence, so it can’t really be helped. And if you feel like you were selling your body, then it wasn’t even papa-katsu to begin with.
