I took the Tohoku Shinkansen.
It’s similar to ANA’s Premium Class. It was pretty good—I recommend it.

I’m a former train buff—more specifically, a train-riding enthusiast.
I rode it last August. At the time, COVID restrictions meant no alcohol was served, and the GranClass service wasn’t available. Without that, it’s basically just a Shinkansen with somewhat luxurious seats. What a shame! Still, it might be suitable for couples in complicated situations.
