Wouldn’t a small gift that doesn’t create too many expectations, but would still make her happy to receive, be a good idea?
The key is to choose something that feels luxurious and expensive for what it is—something she wouldn’t buy for herself because it’s a little too pricey, but would be happy to receive as a gift.
If you’re not confident in your taste, just add it to her allowance instead.

If you’re going on a date during Christmas week, I think it’s only natural to give the other person a present, whoever they are. I’d do the same even if she were a woman from my workplace.

Giving a gift after you’ve become close is pretty normal, so it won’t be as touching or have much impact—even if it’s expensive. Basically, it’s a waste.
If you’re going to give one, it’s more effective to do so on the first day, or when you’ve only just met and don’t yet know how things will turn out.
If you’re already close, or giving it expecting something in return, I don’t think you need to give a gift at all.

I don’t think you need to go overboard. If you try too hard, it can be difficult to keep it up afterward. You could ask, “Is there anything you’d like to eat?” and take her to a slightly nicer restaurant than usual, or simply add ¥10,000 to her allowance—that should be more than enough.
I hope you’re able to build a good relationship.

When it comes to Christmas, I wouldn’t expect something extra every time.
Why not add 10,000 yen in cash on top of what you already planned? It’s only your third time, after all.
