If a woman’s requested allowance is high, do papas (male supporters) offer a slightly lower amount that they can afford? Or do they first pay the allowance she asked for? Do they ever think that if the terms don’t work, they can simply move on?

I’m Fuu, a columnist. In my case, I tell them my set amount. If someone offers more than that, I cover their transportation costs and we part ways—that’s my usual policy.

I’m in Seattle. If it’s up to $1,000, I’d probably accept your asking price once. If I don’t think it’s worth it, there simply won’t be a second time. I wouldn’t ask you to lower the amount.

I’m Flag Maker, a columnist. I decide everything based on my mood. Sometimes I agree to a woman’s asking price, and sometimes I don’t. Honestly, it all depends on how I feel at the time.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I first ask what the woman has in mind. If her requested amount is higher than what I’ve decided on, I tell her, “Sorry, I can’t meet that amount.” I don’t ask her to lower it. On the other hand, if she asks me what I have in mind, or if her request is at or below my set amount, I’ll confirm by saying, “Would ○ work for you, then?” But I think this really depends on the individual man.

Maezawa from the president’s office here as well. I think the most gentlemanly approach is for a man to simply walk away without haggling. Some women may be willing to agree if a man negotiates the price, but I think the opposite can happen too. If she absolutely refuses to go below a certain amount, being repeatedly pressured to lower it would probably make her feel very uncomfortable. There are also men where it’s hard to tell whether they’re negotiating or lecturing you. For example, men who say things like: “Explain what makes you think you’re worth that much.” or “Do you realize how hard it is to earn this amount?” When you look at it that way, I think not haggling is less likely to make the woman feel uncomfortable. That said, even if the amount seems higher than expected, some men may think, “I won’t know what it’s really like unless I try being intimate once,” and agree to that amount for just one time. If they then feel the experience was nothing special, they may simply end things after that one time. On the other hand, when the amount seems higher than expected, some men may say something lower, such as, “I had been thinking of around this amount…” It varies from person to person, so it’s difficult to say. If you can avoid stating your own desired amount and ask the man what he has in mind first, you can then decide whether to agree or not. I think it would be best to steer the conversation in that direction.
