I’m a male member. The club apparently tells us to set aside four hours for the first date, but are there really many male members who spend four hours on a date? I’m basically a Type B, occasionally Type C, but most of the time we just have dinner and go our separate ways. Even with Type C, I check the box saying that dinner only is fine. I feel that when things turn into an arrangement on the first day, they don’t tend to last very long. It’s like I’ve already gotten a sense of accomplishment and start thinking, “I guess that’s enough—time to move on to the next person.” Most of the people I’ve had long-term arrangements with were relationships that started on the second meeting. To those who answer: Do you spend four hours on the first date?

I’m Maezawa from the President’s Office, and I’ll answer this too. Rather than asking whether the date lasts four hours, are you asking whether you’re expected to go to a hotel after dinner on the first day? With women listed as Dating Type C, it seems that in most cases they do proceed to an adult relationship after dinner. You say you’d prefer the first meeting to be dinner only. If you were choosing Dating Type B, that would be fine since your expectations would match. But I don’t understand why you would make an offer to someone listed as Type C while intending to have dinner only on the first meeting. Could it be that you’re offering the same allowance as for an adult relationship even if it’s dinner only? If so, I can understand why you wouldn’t invite her on the first day. But if you want the first meeting to be dinner only, shouldn’t you only make offers to women listed as Type B? I’m not sure what the point is of making offers to Type C women, since I assume some women choose Type C because they want an allowance as well. > Even women listed as Type C have checked “Dinner only is fine.” That means women have the right to decline, and since the original chance of them agreeing when invited was 50%, it’s a box indicating that they’re allowed to turn down an adult relationship after dinner. I don’t think it means that the man is requesting dinner only. If you intend to have dinner only, I think it would be better to write something like this in the notes: “On the first meeting, I’m planning to have dinner and then part ways. Would you still be willing to accept my offer?” That said, it would be awful if you invited her to your hotel on the first day after writing that.

I’m Kazu, a male member. When it’s dinner only, I spend about two hours. If we have sex afterward, we spend another two hours in a room, for about four hours total. I feel that the relationship really begins after having sex, so once I have someone I’m seeing regularly, I don’t suggest sex unless I’m especially interested in her during the dinner. I figure it’s better to have sex with someone I’m going to continue seeing. If I don’t feel like having sex during the meal on the first date, I don’t meet her a second time. My pattern is the opposite of the questioner’s.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. So far, I’ve had three first dates, and regardless of the woman’s relationship type, they’ve all been dinner only (no intimacy). They lasted just under two hours. Since I mainly use the first meeting to get to know each other, I don’t think there’s any need to invite them anywhere afterward… (lol) I make sure to tell women from the time I make the offer that the first date will be dinner only.

I’m Dai, a male member. On a first date, if it ends with dinner only, we usually part ways after about one to two hours. If we have an adult relationship (intimate), we usually part ways after around four hours in total. Early on, there was one time when I couldn’t agree on an allowance with a Type C woman after dinner, so we went to karaoke afterward. Since I didn’t give her anything beyond the transportation fee set by the club, it seems she left negative feedback with the club. I still don’t consider it a rule violation, but ever since then, I’ve made a point of not doing anything other than dinner or an adult relationship (intimate) on a first date.

I’m Kamihikōki, a male member who’s been getting taken around for drinks by women from the very first meeting. I’m perfectly fine with having a one-hour dinner-only meeting and going our separate ways. In fact, I had a quick lunch today with a woman I’ve been seeing for over a year, fitting it into our spare time. But in most cases, including first meetings... Since I don’t drink a drop of alcohol, I end up accompanying the woman for as long as she wants to keep the excitement going. Quite often, I can’t leave until I’m exhausted from all the drinking, eating, and going out. Once things get lively, we start moving from one place to another, so they don’t let me go very easily. Even on a first meeting, there have been times when we started at lunchtime and I wasn’t free until the middle of the night. But honestly, I do enjoy seeing them happily tipsy like that... That’s just the kind of person I am.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. For a first date, I allow about two hours for dinner only, and around four hours if I’m inviting her to a room. Four hours for dinner alone doesn’t happen. Inviting her to a room on the first day means she’s C or above. It’s not as though I feel any sense of accomplishment from having an adult relationship (intimate). Since these are relationships involving an allowance, B, C, and D are all the same to me. And sadly, even when it does lead to an adult relationship (intimate), or even develops into a long-term arrangement, in most cases we haven’t really grown any closer, and nothing has actually begun. There’s no sense of accomplishment whatsoever. Only once in a while, I’ll realize that the woman has wrapped herself in a loincloth and started performing sumo stomps. When that happens, I’ll hurriedly wrap one around myself and start stomping too. Only then does the match finally begin. But most of the time, we don’t even make it into the ring.
