Why is being unemployed a problem?
This is just my guess, but I think it’s because people don’t find unemployment attractive.
Does being a part-time worker count as being unemployed?
I assume part-time workers have some kind of job, so I don’t think they’re considered unemployed.

Not just at the salon—neither men nor women need to be part-timers, unemployed, or without an income, right?
Especially when it comes to the person they’re seeing.

There’s no way a beautiful woman would be unemployed. Even if she doesn’t have a job after entering a beauty pageant, plenty of offers come her way—and if she walks around town, she’ll be swarmed by scouts.

> Why aren’t unemployed women allowed?
I assume this was decided by the person in charge of SALON, so you’d have to ask them directly to know the real reason.
My guess is that it may be part of their concept—that they prefer women who are working.
Or perhaps many of the male members are looking for that type of woman.
> Does “freeter” count as unemployed?
A freeter is someone who works part-time, so I don’t think they would be considered unemployed.
That said, if they’re refusing unemployed applicants, I can’t help thinking your chances of failing the interview may be higher.
Still, I think the final decision probably comes down to your appearance, mannerisms, and so on, so it may be worth applying anyway.
Even women who aren’t unemployed get rejected from interviews left and right, so it seems to be a world where you should expect rejection.

People probably assume that a grown adult isn’t working because they have some kind of problem, right?
They also say that overweight people have a hard time finding jobs because they can’t manage themselves. For some reason, they say extremely beautiful women have trouble finding jobs too. Apparently, that’s true—I was told that in an interview the other day(笑)

Those are the rules, so if something isn’t allowed, it isn’t allowed. There’s no point in asking.
If a man who earns less and has no assets inquires, asking, “Do I really need an annual income of at least ¥40 million or assets of at least ¥80 million?” the woman would find that strange too, wouldn’t she?

I think it’s because unemployed women aren’t appealing. Part-time workers are technically employed, I suppose, but I wouldn’t meet someone who only works part-time.
