I’m Maezawa from the president’s office, and I’ll answer as well. SALON isn’t a branch. It operates under a completely different system from Universe. Differences in the number of offers made through Universe’s branches inevitably occur because the number of registered male members varies by location. Men can view women nationwide and make offers to women anywhere in the country, but in most cases, they go on dates near where they live or where they frequently work. That naturally means Tokyo has the highest number of offers. In the Tokyo area, Chiba, Omiya, and Yokohama are all roughly comparable, and many people commute to or attend school in central Tokyo every day. Even so, there are occasionally men who don’t want to travel that far. With that in mind, Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe could be viewed as having a similar relationship. There are a few men who are particular even about relatively minor differences in distance, but most aren’t that particular. So basically, you can assume that Kobe and Osaka receive roughly the same number of offers. However, since those rare exceptions do exist, I think Osaka probably gets slightly more offers than Kobe. > If the number of offers differs, I’d like to register at the branch with more offers. We’ve received requests like that for some time, and it often caused difficulties for both the men and our staff, so the concept of a “registered branch” has been eliminated. For example, even if you have your interview in Osaka, if your address is in Kobe, your location will be displayed as Kobe. In other words, there is no longer such a thing as a registered branch. Therefore, if you want to change your listed location to Osaka, you would need to move to Osaka.

I’m a male member called “Paper Airplane.” There aren’t that many registered members in Kansai, so I look at Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe together. It’s the same no matter which area you choose. There aren’t enough registered women to search each area separately. That said, there are very few new registrations in Kyoto and Kobe—sometimes only one or two—so I may decide they’re not worth checking and look only at Osaka. This could be interpreted either way, since the numbers are low in both areas.

This is Saito♪, a columnist. I’d be in trouble too if people could change their registered location. Sometimes someone says they’re in Tokyo, but they actually turn out to be in Kanagawa or Saitama, and the Uber ride home ends up costing a fortune. In the end, even when I get an offer, it feels like too much of a hassle, so it never goes anywhere. Though lately, I feel like that hasn’t been happening as much.

I’m Kazu, a male member. There’s currently no designated branch for registration. So regardless of which branch you interview at, you’ll automatically be registered with the branch assigned to your area of residence. Lying about where you live can lead to problems later on.

I’m Dai, a male member. I feel like both options have their pros and cons. People in Osaka will probably check the surrounding areas too, but someone like me, who occasionally travels from Nagoya to the Kansai area, would probably search as far as Kyoto and Osaka, but not often as far as Kobe. In the end, you can’t have it both ways, so I don’t think there’s really that much difference…

I’m Taro, a male member. Between Osaka and Kobe, I’d say Kobe is probably the better choice. When there are more members, your profile drops off the first page of the site more quickly. Since the CVR probably doesn’t change, fewer page views naturally means fewer offers. On the other hand, male members benefit from having a larger pool of women to choose from, so they’ll probably check nearby areas as well. If they’re in Osaka, they might also look in Kobe or Kyoto. In Tokyo, that would include Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa. So I think being just outside a major metropolitan area might actually be the best strategy. I haven’t looked at the data, though, so I can’t say how it really works in practice.
