On apps, younger women or students may have an advantage, but that’s not really the case at Universe Club. People will casually say things like: “What do you think of this woman?” “She’s __ years old… That’s a little too young for me. I’d prefer someone a bit older.” Of course, some male members use or have used apps, so there are men who prefer younger women or students. But there aren’t enough of them for that to affect the overall trend. I think this is partly because a dating club can involve a more mature kind of relationship. The charm of a mature woman, the enjoyment of a good conversation, and the kindness of being considerate toward someone else— Quite a few men prefer women who have qualities that younger women don’t yet possess. I hope that, in time, you’ll become that kind of woman as well. As for your occupation, we don’t distinguish between temporary and permanent employment. Listing yourself as an office worker is perfectly sufficient. There are certain occupations that tend to receive more offers, but aside from that, I don’t think your job makes much difference. I’m Dai, a male member. I don’t think working as a temp employee will have much impact on offers as long as you have a steady job. For example, many receptionists are temp employees these days. However, if you come across as a professional papa-katsu woman—like someone who’s unemployed or only works part-time—you may receive fewer offers from men who aren’t into that type.

I’m Shingo Lee (Shingori), a columnist. I think your age matters more than your occupation, so you don’t need to worry about it. That said, being a temp worker with a college degree can be pretty tough. I’d suggest keeping your papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) to a reasonable level and spending more time building your career rather than focusing on making money. It’ll benefit you more in the long run. People say you can only turn your youth into money while you’re young, but the effort you put in when you’re young will pay off many times over as you get older.

The women who get offers based on their occupation tend to be people with more distinctive jobs, like models or flight attendants. For everyone else, I don’t think it matters much. As long as you don’t put yourself down unnecessarily and can cheerfully say, “I’m a temp worker,” while focusing on your job, I really don’t think there’s any problem. Marika

They usually write things like “office worker,” “office worker (in the ___ industry),” or “service industry.” Even bank tellers can be temporary employees, so I think you’ll still receive offers as usual. For the record, I don’t make offers to female college students.
