What an awful man.
I have a few papas who are doctors and dentists, and they’re all wonderful people, so I feel sorry for you. Some are private practitioners, and others run large hospitals, but not one of them is like that.
You don’t have to force yourself to keep seeing someone like that. End it immediately.
I hope you find a wonderful person you can have a good relationship with—one where you won’t have to put up with that kind of verbal abuse.
If that’s the only kind of person you’ve been meeting, there may also be something you could improve on your end. If you want to continue papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), it might be worth taking a look at yourself, too.

Papas are from a generation that often didn’t receive proper sex education. We take things like HIV prevention for granted in health class, but some of them grew up before even porn was readily available, and may have hurt women while being intimate based purely on their imagination. Women of that generation often couldn’t say anything either, so many have carried on with the same misconceptions for years. There’s no changing them. I just quietly cut ties.

Don’t trust men’s profiles.
They can write anything they want—there’s no limit to the lies.
And some men genuinely have impressive titles, yet still think, “You should be grateful I’m letting you have my genes.”
You’d expect them to take care of you for the rest of your life, right?
You understand what you need to do now, don’t you?
I think papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) may be too difficult for you.

Generally speaking, people tend to assume that the respectability of someone’s profession is linked to their character.
That reminds me of the person in Ikebukuro who drove recklessly and ran people over. Because he had a highly respected profession, he would normally have been arrested even though it was a traffic accident. The fact that he wasn’t arrested became a major topic of discussion, and the phrase “upper-class citizen” briefly came back into use.
In other words, people generally assume that someone with a respectable profession also has good character. And even if you argue that the two aren’t necessarily connected, at the very least, the police, prosecutors, and courts must believe there’s a link between professional status and character—that’s presumably why he wasn’t arrested.
Incidentally, people are arrested when there’s a risk that they might destroy evidence or flee. Most people are arrested because one of those risks is considered to exist.
In the case mentioned above, I assume he wasn’t arrested because they believed:
- He wasn’t the kind of person who would destroy evidence—his profession was respectable, so his character must be respectable too.
- He wasn’t the kind of person who would flee—the basis for that assumption was likewise his respectable profession.
However, in reality, the trial ended up involving claims that it wasn’t his fault but the car’s fault. We still don’t know the truth, but many people probably saw those circumstantially implausible claims and concluded that having a respectable profession doesn’t necessarily mean the person themselves is respectable.
To return to the original point, there’s still a general tendency to assume that a respectable profession reflects good character, but I think more and more people now believe that this isn’t necessarily true in reality.
Come to think of it, teachers used to be called people in a “sacred profession,” but it seems like no one says that anymore.
Perhaps things have changed with the times.

They’re not linked at all… honestly.
That really depends on the individual.
“Lucky you got to date me, right?
Aren’t you glad I was your first?
I’ve published books and appeared on TV, too—
you can brag about me.”
Some people actually have those shallow, pitiful thoughts.

It’s unfortunate that you assume someone’s profession is linked to their shitty side.
Even if someone is a professor at a national university, they might have climbed the ladder by stepping on others, right?
There are also local doctors who are fully devoted to their research and constantly strive to incorporate the latest medical advances.
I’m glad you’ve learned that a person’s character has nothing to do with their profession or social standing…
