While reading the Q&A, I learned that there’s something called “ratings of men by women.” What kind of impact can having good or bad ratings have on men? Could women turn down an offer after seeing the rating, or be more cautious around them on a date than they would with someone else? (I’d really like to know how I’m rated… though I know that’s probably impossible.)

I’m Akai, a staff member at Universe Club, and I’ll answer as well. We generally don’t share men’s ratings with women, as the main purpose is for our staff to review them. That said, some women do ask whether a man has had any problems in the past. In those cases, we may tell them that his ratings aren’t particularly good, while also explaining that they should take this only as a reference, since compatibility plays a role. Therefore, women who are told in advance that a man has received negative feedback may be more cautious.

I’m Hikoki, a male member. I don’t know about the new rating system, but regarding: > I’d like to know how I’m being rated. I think you can get a sense of the feedback by asking the staff and seeing how they respond. If it’s bad, they’ll probably be vague and leave it at that. If it’s good, they may pass along a thank-you or message from the woman asking them to share it with you, or tell you that the fact you’ve continued to receive no negative feedback is itself a sign of a good rating. I also imagine it would affect your priority when being introduced to women before their profiles are made public.

Maezawa from the president’s office here as well. Actually, women can’t see men’s ratings. At this stage, they’re only for the staff to view. That said, when an offer comes in, a woman may ask, “What do you think of this man’s rating?” Since a dating club is run by people arranging introductions between people, women who think, “I might as well ask,” can sometimes benefit from doing so. (笑) When we’re asked that way, we’ll first be honest and say, “His rating isn’t particularly good.” But then we’ll add something like: “Ultimately, it comes down to chemistry, so please just keep this information in the back of your mind and make your own judgment after meeting him.” So in most cases, the woman will still accept the offer. However, if the man’s rating is particularly poor, she may decline. > Do you mean they’ll be more cautious around him than they are with other men during the date? That’s a good guess. If a woman asks, we’ll tell her about any negative feedback, so she will be more cautious. If the man behaves the same way he always has, she may think, “Ah, he’s doing exactly what I was told about at the club. This person is no good.” But normally, a man will want to improve so he doesn’t receive bad feedback in the future. If he has changed, she may instead think: “He’s actually a good man—nothing like what I heard at the club.” “Maybe he just didn’t get along with the other women?” “I seem to be fine with him.” One purpose of these ratings is to encourage men to improve so they won’t receive negative feedback. If everyone keeps working on their shortcomings, then hopefully Universe will end up having only good men.

I’m Kazu, a male member. https://universe-club.jp/information/64462/ Please take a look at the guidelines written by Mr. Kida. If you receive good ratings, even staff members you don’t usually deal with may see you as a well-regarded man. You might even get recommendations for women. On the other hand, if your ratings are poor, it seems the club may issue a warning or recommend that you withdraw. Based on this, it doesn’t look like female members can see men’s ratings, so for now, it seems unlikely that a woman would turn down your offer or become wary of you after checking your rating.
