I’d especially like to ask the female members. Replies on LINE about meeting up and such come within a reasonable amount of time, but otherwise my messages remain unread for over seven hours. Does this mean she doesn’t feel the need to be considerate toward me? I’m concerned about this as we continue seeing each other, so I’d appreciate your thoughts.

Maezawa from the CEO’s Office will answer this one as well. > I do get replies on LINE about meeting up and such, though not often enough to be bothersome. If he’s replying properly when it comes to making plans, isn’t that enough? You can enjoy yourselves when you meet—that’s what you should focus on. If someone from your company kept sending you messages about the origin of the universe and then asked, “Why haven’t you read my messages?” wouldn’t that put you in an awkward position?

I’m Ayase Nana ♡ I usually reply quickly, but I can’t use my phone while I’m working, so I may not respond for 5–6 hours. There have been a couple of people who sent me a ton of LINE messages while I was unable to reply, but they were so lacking in common sense that I had to block them. Was the other person at work? Did you send the messages in the middle of the night? You wanted them to be more considerate, didn’t you… As Kazu suggested, why not tell them directly once that you’d like them to reply a little sooner and that you feel lonely?

I’m Hikōki, a male club member. I have a female friend who joined the club. Even when we’re spending time together, she replies to messages from her friends right away, but puts messages from men at the club on the back burner. What matters is building a reassuring relationship where you don’t worry about whether her reply comes quickly or not. I think it’s more important to first give her a sense of security and trust, so she feels comfortable marking your messages as read as soon as she sees them, even if she doesn’t reply right away. Right now, it seems she may be viewing your messages without marking them as read. To start with, if she replies after 7 or 14 hours, reply after a similar interval—say 7–10 hours or 14–21 hours later.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. I understand wanting a quick reply, but it’s probably best not to rush. You’re both busy, so I think it’s better to take things at a comfortable pace. That said, I think replying within 24 hours is reasonable.

She may be reading your messages through notifications and deliberately not opening anything other than meeting-related messages right away. You need to be careful not to send boring LINE messages, or women will cut you off. I recently had to say goodbye to one papa because of that. Marika

I’m Flag Maker, a columnist. That kind of assumption is jumping to conclusions. She may not be going out of her way to accommodate you, but it doesn’t mean she dislikes you that much. What she finds annoying is when you start thinking, “Is she not being considerate because she’s slow to reply?” or “Does she hate me?” The correct answer is: “She simply doesn’t feel that strongly either way.” As I’ve written before, we Universe men tend to misunderstand this, but even if things progress to an adult relationship (intimate), it’s not because she likes you. At best, her feelings are probably just, “I don’t dislike him.” Thinking of it that way is probably better for your mental health. And sometimes, rather than actually saying “I’m lonely”—which you should never do outright—it can be more effective to subtly give off an air of quiet, understated loneliness.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think it’s too soon to assume she isn’t being considerate. Trying to gauge someone’s feelings by how quickly they reply is a poor strategy. She may be taking care not to send casual, offhand replies precisely because she respects you. That said, it’s also true that it’s difficult to grow closer to someone who rarely responds. If it’s bothering you, why not bring it up indirectly once?
