The woman I’m seeing had double-eyelid surgery without telling me. I actually thought she looked better before. Her eyelid crease is now unusually wide, and it looks unnatural and feels strange to me. Is it okay to tell her that?

I’m Aya, a female member. Wouldn’t you feel uncomfortable if a woman said to you, “You’ve gotten balder than before, haven’t you?” or “You’ve really put on weight around the middle”? It’s the same thing. It’s basic common sense, so why do you think paying money gives you the right to say anything you want? One of the seven mysteries of dating-club uncles, I suppose.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here—I’ll answer as well. What’s the point of giving your opinion when nobody asked for it? If they haven’t said anything, I think it’s better not to say anything either. And even if they did ask, saying that you preferred how they looked before is basically the same as telling them to get more work done. Besides, they originally had surgery because there were things they didn’t like about their previous appearance. So rather than having surgery to return to how they looked before, they’ll probably interpret what you said and move in that direction instead.

I’m Dai, a male member. It’s best not to comment on your partner’s appearance. You wouldn’t want someone commenting on your own looks either, right? If she’s troubled enough to consider plastic surgery, it’s better to leave the subject alone.

I’m Hikōki, a male member. > If it’s a relationship where they wouldn’t know unless you told them, then it’s probably better not to say anything. The reason people often tell their coworkers and those around them beforehand is likely that they don’t want to hear negative-sounding comments like, “Did you get plastic surgery?” or “Why?”

This is Nana Ayase♡ Don’t say anything—let’s just leave it alone… It’s because I’m already so troubled that I feel like I need plastic surgery. If you find me creepy, please just quietly walk away. There are plenty of other women.
