A papa (a male supporter) who’s really into golf keeps inviting me to play. I’ve never played golf before.
I’m interested because I’ve never tried it, and I do feel like giving it a shot as a life experience—but going on a golf date with this papa (a male supporter) is a different story.
We’ve only just met and aren’t that close yet, and honestly, being tied up all day playing golf with him sounds like a huge hassle.
Is it possible to go on a golf date without being committed for the whole day?

Some men enjoy playing golf with women who are good at it, but I don’t think they’d go golfing with someone who’s never played before. Most likely, neither of them would have much fun.
Since it’s hard to imagine taking a complete beginner out on the course, I’m guessing the date might involve going to a driving range together or playing simulator golf.
It might be worth asking him about that.
Once you get better, you might end up playing a round together, though…

I actually enjoy golf these days and play three or four times in a busy month. That said, I don’t want to play with a woman I’m seeing or anyone else I have to be overly mindful around. I have more fun playing with close clients or friends.
Golf gives you a serious tan, so you’d probably be better off quitting. Why not try simulator golf instead?

When I was 20, I gave up golf because no matter how many times I went to the driving range, the ball kept flying diagonally backward and getting in everyone’s way.

A beginner golfer wouldn’t just go play a full round right away, so don’t worry（笑）
If you’re in Tokyo, you can spend about an hour practicing—or just having fun—at a simulator. If you drive a little farther, there are driving ranges, and once you get a bit better, you could try a short course.
That’s probably a good place to start.
Oh, and one more thing: if you become interested in golf, you should learn from a proper instructor—not your papa, lol.
