Is it fair to assume he’s lost interest if he no longer tells me he likes me during our intimate moments? I’m sorry to bother you when you’re busy, but I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. If I got a question like this, I’d end up thinking it was okay to keep saying “I love you” over and over while we’re being intimate, lol. Phew. I’ll stay calm and keep things in moderation from now on. I’m afraid of how the other person might respond when I say “I like you,” so I don’t say it very often. If they simply say “I like you too,” that’s fine, but I’d still be hurt if they said nothing—and I’d be scared if they asked, “What about your wife?” ^^;

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here—I’ll answer as well. Thank you for your question. If he used to say it every time but you’ve already met many times, then even if he hasn’t completely lost interest, I think the extent of his feelings has probably diminished. That said, Japanese men often still have feelings even if they don’t say they like you. If you pay close attention to his attitude and actions, you may be able to tell that he still likes you. Also, if he said it the first time but not the second time, for example, it may be because he was only forcing himself to say it at first because he wanted you to like him. In that case, not saying it may actually be the more natural state for him. Incidentally, when someone has truly lost interest, they usually no longer want to give you an allowance, so they typically stop meeting you altogether.
