Maezawa from the CEO’s Office here—I’ll answer this one too. Thanks for your question. It would be amazing if you could tell. If that were possible, it would mean being able to look at any woman walking down the street and know whether she does papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). Some women may give off that kind of impression, but that would really be no different from guessing. You might assume someone who doesn’t do it does, or think someone who does it doesn’t. Besides, even if you had supernatural powers that let you judge, if the person said she didn’t do it, it would still come down to which one you chose to believe. And I don’t think being able to tell would actually change anything.

I’m in Seattle. I don’t think you can become famous just by sleeping with someone. That said, I’m sure there are people who sell themselves because they’re struggling financially—not to become famous, but simply to cover their living expenses. Are you referring to Janome’s column?
