I’m a male member. For those who have experience paying a woman’s travel expenses to come visit from another region, I have a question. If an adult relationship (intimate) is expected after dinner, do you negotiate the terms in advance—perhaps through messages on a letter-dating service these days? Ultimately, I assume whether anything happens is decided after meeting in person, but I’d appreciate hearing your opinions.

I’ll answer as Maezawa from the president’s office as well. Thank you for your question. When you pay for a woman’s travel expenses to come to a different region, with a standard offer, you can only discuss reimbursing her actual transportation costs—and even that has to go through the staff. Because of this, it isn’t possible to discuss an allowance. Universe continues to arrange dinner-only first meetings as usual, after which the relationship is left to the individuals involved. This is no different even when she lives far away. If you have a letter date first and then discuss things, you’re free to talk about anything because it’s a relationship between consenting adults. That might be the better option. However, since it’s left up to the individuals involved, whether she actually comes will likely depend on how engaging the conversation was. In that sense, it may be more difficult, so it might be better to go with a standard offer and discuss the allowance with her after you meet.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. With online arrangements, I used to negotiate everything in advance—whether it was a B- or C-type arrangement, whether she could agree to the allowance, whether she was actually a genuine A-type, and even whether there was any point in meeting if money was the main concern. We could also talk while seeing each other’s expressions. With letter dates, though, I discuss the terms after meeting, even when she’s coming from far away. That applies to both B- and C-type arrangements. Basically, I don’t discuss money over LINE or other text messages. But what should a woman do if she travels a long way for a letter date and the amount doesn’t work out, while the man has no intention of adjusting it? In that case, it might be better to confirm things in advance. Even if the allowance itself doesn’t match, you can still make adjustments by adding transportation costs, travel expenses, or a long-distance fee.

I’m Kazu, a male member. When I’ve made offers to women who live far away, there have been two patterns. The first is inviting them through a regular offer. In that case, I discuss the terms on the day after they arrive, just as I would with a local woman. That’s only natural, since there’s no way to contact each other directly beforehand. The second is making the offer through an online date. In that case, if she was a Type C or D, I discussed the allowance for an adult relationship (intimate) online. With Type B, I only discussed the allowance for dinner. There have also been cases where, with a Type B woman, I brought up the allowance for an adult relationship after seeing how things went when we met, and we ended up going to a hotel together that day. Conversely, there have been Type B women where I felt, based on the atmosphere when we met, that it was still too soon, so I didn’t bring up an adult relationship that day. I’ve never made an offer through a letter date, so this isn’t based on personal experience. But unlike an online date, a letter doesn’t let her get a sense of what I’m like, and I can’t gauge her reactions as we talk. So if I were making an offer through a letter date, I think I’d wait until we met in person to discuss an adult relationship. It’s all rather complicated, so if I were making an offer to a woman who lives far away now, I’d probably go with a regular offer.
