I’m Flagmaker, a column writer. It’s been a year since I started answering questions under the title “New Male Member in His 30s.” Somehow, I’ve become a fairly veteran contributor, but my own activity has been pretty low and my motivation isn’t especially high. So it would be great to have answers from people who are actively involved and highly motivated—or, conversely, from long-time members. Please apply!

Almost all the staff working at our branches have accounts, so that alone would mean there are around 60 potential respondents. There are quite a few other respondents too, but knowing the exact number wouldn’t really mean anything. You’ve never seen answers from around 60 staff members, have you? It’s the same with people who apply and are issued accounts but never actually answer questions. So the number of accounts isn’t meaningful. The people answering now are the respondents. > You need to have received a certain number of offers to become an anonymous Q&A respondent. The number of offers isn’t relevant. As long as there’s no negative feedback from women or complaints from staff, you’ll probably be fine. That said, if someone has never received an offer, or has received only one, or has an extremely low number, it does make them seem suspicious.

I don’t think there are any particular hidden requirements. If there were, I probably wouldn’t qualify as an answerer. Since joining, I’ve learned a lot about how these relationships work—especially the nature of the relationship and how to bring things to an end—by referring to the anonymous question box and similar resources. However, when I try to write an answer while drawing on my own experiences, some questions really make me think. There’s a big difference between reading and writing. Please consider applying to become an answerer. I think having a wider variety of people would increase the chances of providing answers that are a perfect fit for each question.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I can’t say for sure without taking attendance, but I think quite a few people have accounts that allow them to post answers. However, since there’s no compensation, there’s no quota requiring them to answer, and I imagine there aren’t many people with enough free time to check this site regularly during the day and write responses. The conditions listed at that URL are the “application” requirements. As for the behind-the-scenes selection criteria I’ve heard about, for men, it seems that not having received any bad feedback from women is one of them. This is mentioned in answers such as Maezawa’s here: https://universe-club.jp/help/questions/view/4573 I don’t think the number of offers is part of the selection criteria either.
