I’m a woman in my 20s and I’m considering signing up, but I work as a civil servant. I’d rather not say exactly what I do, but it’s a job where I’m expected to maintain an impeccable reputation. If I submit my driver’s license or health insurance card, my occupation will be obvious right away. I’d like to know whether there are other female members in a similar situation and, if so, roughly how many there are.

Araki from the Fukuoka branch here as well. We do have women registered with us who work in the public sector! When you register, we list your industry rather than your specific occupation, so we can keep things somewhat vague. However, some of our male members also work in the public sector, so when it comes to protecting your identity, we can’t guarantee complete safety… A consultation alone is perfectly fine to start with, so please feel free to discuss any other concerns with the staff at the branch where you register.

This is Sakurai from the staff. If you’re still interested in registering, why not discuss your circumstances during the interview as well? After hearing how the club works, you may decide, “Maybe this would be difficult after all,” or a staff member might suggest, “How about trying it this way?” and you may feel that it’s something you could manage. There’s also a chance, however small, that you may not pass the screening, so we’d first encourage you to come in and talk with us! Every now and then, some women want to register without telling club staff about their marital history or occupation. Regardless of how it’s presented on your profile, it’s easier for us to support you and suggest the best approach if you’re honest during the interview. I can’t give you a specific number, but there are a looooot of women who worry about their identity being recognized. Going for an interview doesn’t automatically mean you have to register, so please feel free to contact us!

I’ll answer as Maezawa from the president’s office. We also have people registered who work in the public sector. Civil servants are prohibited from having side jobs, but since Universe doesn’t pay them a salary, it doesn’t count as outside employment. > If you submit your driver’s license or health insurance card, your occupation will be exposed immediately. I can understand how your occupation might be revealed through your health insurance card, but through your driver’s license? I don’t believe driver’s licenses contain occupational information. And even if some kind of information were secretly stored on the IC chip, I doubt ordinary companies or individuals could access it. So, if submitting your driver’s license doesn’t reveal your occupation, wouldn’t it be fine to register with peace of mind? That said, if you’re a well-known person, male members may recognize you from your photo. It might be a good idea to discuss measures such as registering with a blurred photo during your interview. Your occupation is basically self-reported as well. I’d prefer you not to lie, but if you work in a profession where absolute integrity is expected, I suppose there may be no other choice. If the lie is discovered, you may be forced to leave the service. In that case, the lie would most likely come to light through feedback from a male member after a date.
