There’s no sign of the coronavirus situation settling down. Would it be difficult to go in for an interview and register right now?

This is Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office. If you’re asking whether simply going to the interview would be difficult, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s not difficult at all. However, first interviews are currently conducted online, and only women who pass the first interview are asked to come to one of our branches. If you’re asking whether it would be difficult to receive offers after registering, I don’t think there’s any particular problem. We’re still getting around 90% as many offers as we did before COVID-19, at least based on my impression. If anything, it seems that more women are gradually declining because of the coronavirus. Men and women may simply have different perspectives on this. We also started offering online dates last month. It would be premature to assume that you won’t receive an allowance just because the date is online. Even if the first date is online, I think most men who like you will want to meet in person afterward. That said, there are also some timid men who only want to meet online and never actually meet in person, so you may happen to come across someone like that. Those timid men have their own reasons and ways of thinking, and I respect that. Even if people are avoiding gathering in enclosed spaces with large numbers of strangers, I think many feel that meeting one specific person, just the two of you, carries significantly less risk by comparison. It’s probably a matter of asking which is riskier: going on a date alone with someone, or going shopping at your local supermarket. Of course, going to the supermarket is necessary to buy food, whereas a date isn’t essential, so comparing the two in the first place may seem unreasonable. Still, if you consider risk alone, some people may wonder whether the comparison is really so straightforward. And it’s also fair to say that humans aren’t meant to simply do nothing all day as long as they have food and won’t die. Weighing the risks against what we need to do, and living a human life within the bounds of not inconveniencing others, also seems important.
