As part of our current coronavirus precautions, when arranging a date with someone who has traveled abroad, we require both parties to consent to meeting the other person. Would you be willing to proceed?”

To everyone concerned, Thank you, as always, for your continued support. This is Kida, representative of the Universe Group. Regarding the measures announced by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to prevent the spread of COVID-19, I would like to share our group’s response and ask for our members’ cooperation. At this point, we do not believe the impact of the coronavirus currently being reported in the news on dating clubs is at a level that warrants concern. The reasons are: - Members are not coming into contact with large numbers of unspecified people (most meetings take place in private rooms). - Dates and interviews involve one-on-one contact, which allows for a certain degree of prevention. - People who are feeling unwell will not go on dates (since this is not work). However, it is impossible to know how this unknown virus may mutate in the future. Since it is the mission of a members-only club to eliminate members’ concerns as much as possible, we will implement the following measures. 【Those coming in for an enrollment interview】 - During the enrollment interview, we will ask whether you have traveled overseas within the past two weeks. If so, you will be required to wait at least three weeks before attending the interview. 【Current members】 - Please take your temperature on the day of or the day before each date and confirm that it is within your normal range (under 37.5°C). If you have a fever or cough, please postpone the date. - Before each date, you will be asked to agree to confirm that you currently have a normal temperature and no symptoms such as coughing. (We will clearly state that false declarations may be subject to a penalty fee and compensation for damages.) - Members who have traveled overseas will only be eligible for date arrangements after 14 days have passed since their return. 【Within the company】 - Office-based employees will work from home whenever possible to reduce commuting-related risks. - Thermometers will be kept in the office, and employees will be required to take their temperature once a week. - Employees with a temperature of 37.5°C or higher, or who have a cough, must wear a mask and visit a hospital, or work from home. - Handwashing and alcohol disinfection are required at least three times a day, including after going outside and after using the restroom. - Masks will be kept in the office. Employees dealing with visitors, or those who are coughing or sneezing, should wear one. However, only those who need masks should use them so as not to contribute to unnecessary stockpiling. - Employees who have traveled overseas will work from home for 14 days. That is all. These measures were only just announced to our employees as well, so they may not be able to answer questions directed to them yet. If you have any questions, please submit them through the anonymous question box, and we will respond as quickly as possible within what we are able to do. For the past five years, someone in my family has come down with influenza every year. But this year, we have not yet heard of influenza or norovirus spreading either in the Kida household or at the nursery school. I’m sure this is because each family has been washing their hands carefully. Every time I see the news about this situation, I’m reminded once again of how precious good health is. I believe that many of the members registered with dating clubs are the type of people who do not fear risks but make preparations for them. (Otherwise, they probably would not go out of their way to pay a high enrollment fee.)
