Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here. It sounds like you have several concerns, but if you’re genuinely worried about this, asking here won’t resolve anything. I think you should contact Universe directly and ask whose referral you’re registered under and whether that person receives any money when you go on a date. You don’t know the scout’s name, we don’t know your name, we don’t know the date you came in for your interview, and we don’t know which clubs, other than Universe, you registered with. With so many unknowns, there’s no way to get to the truth. To begin with, if the staff member looked puzzled when you said you had been referred, then in all likelihood, it was a name they didn’t recognize—in other words, a name they had never heard before. If they had never heard of the person, doesn’t that suggest they weren’t actually a scout? It seems to me that you were able to register because it wasn’t treated as a referral from that person. Even if a complete stranger introduced you on the street, that would have nothing to do with Universe. It would simply mean that you came to Universe and registered of your own accord. If someone claims they were scouted on the street, we would check with the scout, and if it were true, I believe any subsequent dealings with that person would end. However, if we’re simply told that the woman said so, it becomes difficult to determine whether it’s true. If being scouted on the street really concerns you, then street scouting is highly likely to be illegal, so if you go to the police, I think there’s a good chance the scout could be arrested. (I assume you understand this if you read the link in my previous answer carefully.) No branch allows street scouting. Even though the branches have considerable authority, I believe this matter is beyond what a branch manager can take responsibility for, so I don’t think there should be any variation between branches, but…
