The male member I’m seeing keeps insisting that I leave the club, and I’m not sure how to handle it. How can I respond without being rude?

Column writer Saito here♪ Why not end things, using the allowance as the reason? You could say, “It’s difficult for me to limit the relationship to just you because the allowance is too low.”

I’m a male member, BB7. I assume the reasons for not leaving the club are things like the allowance not being enough, or wanting to keep meeting other men even though the allowance is sufficient. Rather than overthinking it, I think it would be less stressful for both of you going forward if you were honest about why you don’t want to leave the club.

Maezawa from the Business Planning Office here as well. I think it would be best to put yourself in the mindset of a woman like Fujiko Mine and lie to the man. One option would be to tell him you’ve left the club without actually withdrawing. Of course, men generally don’t want to be lied to, but I think it’s fine to lie to men who break the rules themselves. (He sounds like he’s at the level where the club should consider banning him.) Even if you lie, he’ll find out if he checks the members-only page. To prepare for that possibility, why not tell him, “I’m going to leave too, so you should withdraw as well”? Once someone withdraws, they can no longer view the members-only page. You could also ask the club, “Could you set it so that I’m not visible to men I’ve gone on dates with in the past?” They’ll probably ask why, but I think you can simply explain the situation as it is. That way, even if the man hasn’t left the club (though he probably won’t withdraw, haha), you won’t appear on the women’s list, so I don’t think he’ll find out. And if he does find out, that means he hadn’t withdrawn either, so I think it would be perfectly fine to end things with him at that point. If he finds out, break things off. Just say goodbye and you can move on cleanly.

I’m Rura, a male member of UC and a member of the new salon. I think you need to be very clear and say something like: “Pressuring a woman to withdraw from the club is a serious violation of the rules. If you continue making comments like that, I’ll have to consult the club.” In this case, being clear is more important than trying to respond politely.
