Do I have to use my real name when signing up? I’d prefer to use an alias for papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) whenever possible.

I’ll answer as Maezawa from the president’s office. I’m not sure which stage of the application process you mean, but many people use aliases or nicknames when they first apply, before coming in for an interview. Once the date is set and it’s time for the interview, you’ll need to show identification, so the club will know your real name. However, only the club will know it. At the interview, you’ll choose a full “club name.” It has to be a full name because if everyone simply used a surname like “Yamada,” it would become confusing—“Which Yamada?” Once registration is complete, all communication is done using your club name. Your profile and offer notifications from the club will also use your club name. (If a woman accidentally includes her real name in her reply, the response may end up being sent under her real name.) When you go on a date, you’ll initially be addressed by your club name as well. Once things develop into a private relationship, men often want to know your real name, but you can continue using only your club name if you prefer. That part is up to you.
