Do you ever reject a man's membership application because of his appearance?

Maezawa here. We do sometimes reject men’s membership applications because of their appearance. That said, this may be slightly different from what the person asking the question had in mind. When we turn someone down based on looks, it’s mainly due to a lack of cleanliness and grooming. Men who don’t take care of their appearance are likely to cut corners in other aspects of a date as well, so we anticipate receiving complaints from women. That said, grooming is something the person can improve through their own efforts, so I hope they’ll work on it. > Shouldn’t men also be rejected on the grounds that “even if we made an offer, the relationship probably wouldn’t work out”? I’ve never heard of someone’s naturally given facial features being the reason an arrangement wouldn’t work out, even if an offer were made. If anything, it tends to come down to things like cleanliness and grooming. Another common reason is that the person isn’t gentlemanly, which prevents the relationship from working out. That’s why I’m not sure how appropriate it is to cite a man’s appearance as a reason for rejecting him. That said, appearance is in fact included in the screening criteria for men at our new location. Even men with an annual income of 40 million yen or more may be rejected if their appearance isn’t acceptable.
