Have you ever received a complaint like this at the club? Men who’ve fallen head over heels sometimes lend a large sum of money and then lose contact with the woman.

I’m Saito, the columnist♪ Men’s club members often share this kind of cautionary tale with one another. Haha. Even embarrassing stories like, “The president of a publicly listed company got completely played by a college student…” somehow bring the guys closer together. He said it was far too embarrassing to tell the club. I guess everyone has all kinds of experiences and grows up.

I’ll answer as Aizawa as well. Apparently, arrangements like “X amount per month” used to be fairly common, but they seem to be quite rare nowadays. The reasons are exactly what you described: If the monthly allowance is paid upfront, the supporter may worry about what happens if she runs off. Or if you agreed to meet a certain number of times a month but can’t meet because you’re busy, it can turn into a demand to get the money back. On the other hand, women may feel too uneasy to accept payment afterward. For these reasons, pay-per-meeting arrangements seem to be the norm now. It appears that people have adjusted various aspects of their arrangements as a way of managing risk, based on experiences like these. I don’t recommend lending or borrowing money, since it only leads to trouble.

Maezawa here with an answer. As for whether things like that happen, unfortunately, they do. I also cover this topic in the chat that was recently revamped. If someone borrows money from you and then refuses to pay it back, there’s a good chance it could constitute a crime. Whether it actually does depends on factors such as whether they intended to repay it, so it’s a complicated issue. Even so, if they’ve stopped responding altogether, I’d say they no longer have any intention of paying you back, and it may be a crime. Rather than borrowing money, it seems like it would be better to make an effort to receive it as an allowance instead...
