I’m Saito, a column writer♪ It happens to me about twice a year, too. When it does, I add a little extra and give it to her next time. As Maezawa says, you can usually get a sense of what kind of person she is at the next meeting. Since then, I’ve made it part of my routine to leave the allowance somewhere clearly visible under her bag while she’s taking a shower, so I won’t forget. Haha.

Maezawa answers: Men can get so caught up having a good time that they forget to give you your allowance. You must have had a particularly enjoyable time together. If he properly gave you both the previous allowance and the current one the next time you met, he probably just got carried away and forgot. But if he forgets again the time after that, it’s a problem. He may simply be forgetful, but it’s also possible that he doesn’t consider it very important. In that case, it could be intentional—or he may just not take it seriously. Either way, that’s risky. Of course, if you’re fine with dinner only and no allowance, then there’s no issue. But if that’s not the case, I wouldn’t put too much trust in a man who forgets twice in a row. That said, having two men in a row forget because they were having such a great time with you—you must be quite a delightful woman to spend time with.
