An acquaintance of mine recently joined this dating club too. Is it okay for me to tell them that I’m the one who’s keeping things secret? I mean, not me—the other person. I’m registered with this dating club as well, so having them repeatedly call it a “secret” really hurts my pride.

Maezawa here. As far as I know, there isn’t any particular rule saying that women aren’t allowed to tell other women they’re “Secret.” That’s because there’s no way to verify whether someone really is Secret or not. (Member men could investigate to some extent, but doing so would violate the rules.) In the past, a woman who joined through a friend’s referral said, “My friend dates men for dinner only, so I’ll choose the same Type A arrangement.” However, that friend was actually Type C. The staff would never tell the woman that, though. So what she believed to be true wasn’t actually true. I’m not quite sure what you mean by: “If people keep going on and on about being Secret, it hurts my pride.” Being Secret doesn’t mean you’re ranked higher. In fact, you’ll receive fewer offers—possibly almost none at all. So I don’t see any particular benefit. If it really bothers you that much, why not ask your branch something like: “I heard that a man I recently met has joined Universe Club. Would it be possible to make my profile Secret?” If you’ve received offers in the past, I think there’s a good chance they’ll make you Secret. (That said, how they handle it may vary by branch.)
