I sent the man a thank-you message right after our first meeting, and he read it within 30 minutes, but I still haven’t heard back by the next morning. Does this mean he’s not interested?

I’ll answer as Maezawa as well. It’s always nice to receive a thank-you message. As for not getting a reply, if the man isn’t used to LINE, he may have read your message, felt warm and fuzzy, and thought you seemed like a lovely woman—but still not replied. That’s entirely possible. So, based on this alone, it’s impossible to tell whether he’s interested. Why not assume that no reply is normal and take the next step? The clearest thing to say would be: “When can we meet next?” It’s still far too early to make a judgment.

This is Saito, the columnist♪ Exactly. If your message has been read but you still haven’t received a reply even on the first day… If there’s still no response after waiting about two days, it may be best to give up. Once, I checked LINE right before a flight, marked the message as read, and then boarded. The in-flight Wi-Fi didn’t connect properly, and with the time difference and work, I completely forgot to reply. The woman sent me a brief message saying she was a little worried, but I’ve never left it for two full days.
