What criteria are used to determine whether a woman is registered as Gold or Platinum? (The female members in both categories were cute, so I couldn’t tell the difference…)

Maezawa here—I'll answer too. The guideline is: If you feel someone is below Black but above Gold, they’re Platinum. If you feel someone is below Platinum but above Standard, they’re Gold. I know that may sound like it isn’t really a guideline at all, but it’s simply a way to determine which of the four classes best fits someone. There aren’t any fixed criteria like the distance between someone’s eyes, the height of their nose, their height, waist size, leg length, or anything like that. It would be easier if we could just use numbers, though. (笑) Because of that, sometimes women who could qualify as Platinum end up in Gold, and then they get flooded with offers.

Aizawa here. In terms of looks, I see Gold members as charming and cute—the kind of person you might have seen a few of in your class at school. Platinum members are the type who might make you turn around and take a second look when you pass them on the street. The interview staff make the final decision based on that, along with personality, conversational skills, hobbies, occupation, and other factors. Because of that, the individual preferences of each staff member may influence the decision to some extent. A supervisor or someone else may review the profile later and change the class. Personally, when someone with a cute, round-faced look comes in, I tend to rate her a little generously. I’ve even been criticized for being too lenient by other staff members… So if you find someone in the Gold class who matches your personal preferences, I hope you’ll consider yourself lucky. It may simply be that she didn’t happen to fit the interviewing staff member’s particular preferences. The standards can’t really be quantified, which makes it difficult.
