It’s not an absolute rule.
If the branch is busy, they often can’t find time for a new photo shoot. So even if you ask for updated photos, they may simply tell you to wait the standard six months.
However, if the branch isn’t particularly busy, they may agree.
They’re also more likely to approve a reshoot if you’ve changed your hairstyle. So it might be worth asking something like:
“My hairstyle has changed. Would it be possible to have my photos retaken?”
