The overall average is 9.1 people. Men in their 50s had the highest number at 16.1, while women in their 40s came in highest at 7.5.
Apparently, both men and women were up by one person compared with the survey from five years ago. Maybe papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) is to thank for that.
Personally, I found it amusing that, in response to “Where did you meet the opposite sex for your first sexual experience?”, the same school came out on top—which makes sense—but the men’s second-place answer was adult entertainment venues, especially among those aged 50 and over.
Back then, if someone still hadn’t had that experience, their boss would take them along. I’ve even heard stories about someone getting a taxi to stop in front of Yoshiwara, then escaping through the opposite door while his boss was paying the fare… People used to chat about things like that at work while smoking. You couldn’t imagine that happening now. The Showa era is practically the Middle Ages（笑）
