I get the impression that people who are good at their jobs—including “loser guys”—wake up early. Since I started papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), I’ve been getting up an hour earlier than usual. What do you all do in the morning?

I’m not a morning person, but I probably have more savings than those self-proclaimed morning-routine enthusiasts. Work is going well, too. The first thing I do in the morning is reply to work emails. For breakfast, I have warm water or regular water, and sometimes a protein shake. I can’t eat a heavy breakfast first thing in the morning.

What does this question have to do with papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)? I don’t think it really matters what you do in the morning.

I have low blood pressure in the mornings, so I get up early and just sit there in a daze ( ゚ ρ ゚ ). A morning shower wakes me up a little. I’ve been so out of it that I once brushed my teeth with face wash. The taste was indescribable.

I wake up at 6:40 every morning, eat breakfast, get ready for work, and answer questions in my spare time. It doesn’t take me even five minutes to do my makeup. If I have time before work, I’ll iron clothes, tidy up, or watch a drama I recorded. My work schedule changes every day, so the timing varies. As for “Mr. Loser”: I don’t know if I’m in good shape, but I exercise every day. I eat as much of whatever I like as I want, but I’m not surprisingly overweight or anything.

I don’t really stay up late at night doing nothing in particular. In the morning, I have a set amount of time before I leave for work, so the good thing is that I don’t end up being unproductive no matter what I’m doing. Time is limited for everyone, so I think it’s important not to waste it. As for me, I might read the newspaper over breakfast, check the Q&A site and answer questions, or even get some work done, depending on the day.

I’m a short sleeper, so even I’m not sure where night ends and morning begins, but I always do strength training at what would be considered early morning for most people. Working out ranks higher on my priority list than work. Your body comes first—your stamina. If you don’t have the stamina to push yourself at work, you won’t get results. As for limp-wristed guys who try to compete with me intellectually, I’ll overpower them with sheer strength. I work normally all 365 days of the year, so the average guy or middle-aged man around here who’s indulging in excessive sleep—oops, I mean the average young guy or older man—might as well keep sucking on Mommy’s breast. I’d really like the person asking this question to copy one thing: working out first thing in the morning. *Just make sure you get enough sleep. If possible, I’d also like you to take up running. Once you build up your stamina, your life will change completely. You’ll get in better shape and become more popular, too. Almost every successful, high-earning businessman in the West does strength training. Japan is probably the only place where being overweight is still tolerated. Take a look at Forbes’ list of the richest people. Do you see even one fat person there? It would be interesting to have data comparing muscle mass with allowance amounts. I feel like there’d be a correlation. The papas of the women who answer here all seem to have great physiques. I’ve never seen them, but that’s what they say. On the other hand, I doubt these deadbeat papas—the ones paying an allowance of 50,000 yen or less—have much muscle. Even if they’re skinny, I imagine they have beanpole bodies. They probably can barely hold up to 50,000 yen in one hand, but 60,000 yen is too heavy, so they can’t hand a woman 60,000 yen. Rin, you’re amazing. Consistency is more important than intensity. P.S. I’m working on gradually increasing my sleeping hours. I’m frugal by nature, so I feel like sleeping is a waste of time… Working means making money, after all. I tried sleeping about seven hours a night for a while, but I felt like I was going to become depressed. I’m a coward, you know. Let’s go see the cherry blossoms sometime!
