I’m a college student living in Ishikawa. I’m thinking about joining Universe Club, but there aren’t any branches nearby, so I’m considering Nagoya, Niigata, or Kyoto. Which of these three cities would be the best choice…?

I looked into it, and it seems Ishikawa Prefecture falls under the Nagoya branch’s jurisdiction. I’m not really sure why, though. That said, it’s also possible to have your interview at the Kyoto branch. (Even if you interview at the Kyoto branch, your registration will still be under the Nagoya area.) Generally, when they ask during the interview, most people say they’re available nationwide. However, after receiving an offer, some people say things like, “I said nationwide, but Sapporo is a little too far, so I’ll have to decline.” So please be careful not to create a situation where they think, “Wait, does ‘nationwide’ include people coming all the way from Sapporo?” That said, taking transportation into account, people in Sapporo usually invite women from around the Tokyo area. (I assume they’ve probably given up on women from places that require multiple transfers.)

You can’t choose the branch; you should be assigned one automatically based on where you live. When deciding whether to accept an offer, I look more at the travel time and whether it’s somewhere I’d actually go than at the distance itself.
