For reference, I’m currently an active male Black member (since 2019), and it’s not as if I joined recently. So I thought it was strange to receive an “onboarding” email that seemed intended for new members... Since even current members—those who have remained members since 2019—can receive emails like this, I don’t find it surprising at all that former members might receive an email saying, “Thank you for joining.” I think Universe Club’s information management is pretty careless in this regard. So, as the questioner’s boyfriend said, I believe it’s entirely possible that he has left the club but is still receiving emails like this.
