We’ve been seeing each other for a long time and are close enough to say anything to each other, but my papa (a male supporter) only wants to go to restaurants he’s been to before. We just rotate through the same places, and I’m bored. Unless I really love a place, I don’t usually want to go back after trying it once. Even when I show him restaurants on Instagram that look great and suggest we go, he refuses. What is he so hung up on?

If he can’t make use of social media, I wish he’d at least be honest about it. Doesn’t he realize he’s missing out? Instead of complaining that only young people go there or that it’s too trendy, wouldn’t expanding his horizons make the rest of his life richer and more enjoyable? Could it be that he doesn’t trust me?

Rather than going to an Instagram-worthy place you want to visit, why not discuss what kind of restaurants he likes and decide together? You say you want him to be honest, but you’re being honest yourself when you say you don’t want to go.
