I’m Aya, a female member.
I only vaguely knew that eating disorders were common among women doing papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), but I feel like they might be even more common among cabaret club hostesses. There are so many girls who throw up everything they ate during dinner dates with customers, or stop by a convenience store after an after-hours outing and buy huge amounts of food.
In general, a lot of women in jobs where they’re constantly seen by men develop eating disorders from the stress. It’s common among entertainers and models, too.
I think papa-katsu is the same. In other words, it’s an illness that’s more likely to develop in women who make femininity their selling point—or feel that they have to.

If that’s the case, then at least for you, the reason you started papa-katsu was that you were already struggling enough with an eating disorder—and ran short of money. So the possibility that you developed an eating disorder because you were struggling enough to do papa-katsu can be ruled out.
And if that’s true for you, it probably means there are other people in the same situation too, so I don’t think you need to worry about which came first.

I learned here that binge eating because of an eating disorder can be expensive.
I mean, it seems obvious when you think about it, but I’d never really considered it before.
It made me wonder if some people turn to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) because they don’t have enough money.
