It really depends on what you define as the purpose of your self-investment.
For me, the goal was to grow professionally, so the best investments were spending money on books and a computer I needed for work, as well as studying.
For women, some may focus on beauty, while others may aim to succeed through starting a business or investing.
Professional certifications can be worthwhile too, but when I see someone with around 100 qualifications, I sometimes wonder whether obtaining certifications has become the goal itself.

I prefer things like certification exams, which have a clear goal, over classes or hobbies with a vague end point.
If a trip has the purpose of learning something, I consider it an investment in yourself. Otherwise, I see it as nothing more than consumption.
I think it’s best to focus not on the means, but on the purpose and setting clear goals.
