The way I feel about my papa isn’t romantic love, is it? I’ve met around 40 papas, but never found one I actually liked—until I met one half a year ago. He’s not my type looks-wise at all. Even if he were my age, I probably wouldn’t be attracted to his appearance.

I always thought I just disliked older men, but apparently that wasn’t it. Of course, part of why I like him is that he supports me properly through our monthly arrangement, but in all my previous monthly arrangements, the only men were ones I disliked. When I thought about what this feeling of liking my papa actually is, I realized it’s similar to liking a mascot character. Like, “Doraemon is so cute!” or “Kumamon is adorable!” So whenever my papa says something, I find myself thinking, “Huh? That’s cute.” For reference, he has children around my age, and there’s enough of an age gap between us that he could be my parent. Maybe I find him cute because he looks kind and has a round build. I wonder what I’d think if he were a muscular, handsome older guy... What kind of feeling is your affection for your papa closest to? If he were younger, would he be someone you might have fallen in love with?
