Are girls who genuinely fall in love with elderly men usually dealing with some kind of mental health issue? I imagine many of them grew up in difficult family situations, such as having a poor relationship with their parents. Are there any who are perfectly well-adjusted?

I’ll answer this as Maezawa from the CEO’s office. The person asking seems to have a somewhat one-sided view, but there are women who genuinely like older men. In fact, I feel there must be hundreds of thousands of women married to men with a significant age gap, and probably even more who are in relationships with older men. (That said, there are around 53 million women aged 20 or older, so even if 100,000 women preferred men at least 20 years older, that would still be only one in 530.) So rather than assuming it has something to do with mental health or their circumstances, I think it’s more natural to see it as simply one form of diversity—some people are just like that.

“Having mental issues” is just a prejudice based on your extremely narrow perspective and limited experience. To begin with, what does it even mean to have someone fall genuinely in love with you? lol As for genuine romantic feelings and marriage and all that, I agree with Flag Maker. But in dating clubs, I guess the woman who gets him to misunderstand the relationship wins. Akari

I’m Dai, a male member. I know a woman who recently married a man 20 years older than her, and she’s a capable, responsible woman with a successful career. If anything, this may be more common among only daughters born to older parents. Also, you’re mocking women as having mental health issues, but I think you’re the one with a personality problem.

I’m Taro, a male member. I’d say an age gap of up to around 20 years is probably fine. I’ve been in that situation myself. But once you get to around a 30-year gap, I don’t think it’s realistic. They’d be older than your parents, after all. People used to say companies had a 30-year lifespan, and there’s also a 30-year gap between the end of the Showa era and the beginning of the Reiwa era. It feels less like a difference in age and more like the meaning of “love” itself has changed.

I’m Flagmaker, a columnist. I’ve never had anyone genuinely fall for me in my entire life. There’s been obsession, jealousy, or a momentary lapse in judgment, but nothing like that^^; I wonder if “gachi-koi” is something only men experience. Do women even genuinely fall in love like that in the first place? That’s what I’m curious about. Maybe my standards for what counts as “gachi-koi” are too high, or maybe they just differ from the norm. From my perspective, I don’t really feel like women experience gachi-koi. Men do, though. Dating or getting married isn’t necessarily about gachi-koi, after all. It’s more about feeling secure, being comfortable together, and the terms of the relationship.

I’m a male member and a “loser guy.” I’d like “serious romantic feelings” to mean having no allowance involved. ↑ I’ll use that as the definition of “serious romantic feelings” and continue from there. It depends on what you mean by “older,” of course. A 20-year age gap or so is perfectly possible. I’ve already had three women around 20 or more years younger than me develop serious romantic feelings for me through the dating club alone, and now a fourth has appeared. I’m currently discussing it with my club representative. That said, I doubt anyone would develop serious romantic feelings for an older man who isn’t wealthy. The women who fall seriously for me like “a wealthy loser guy.” There’s no way they’re actually attracted to “a loser guy earning five million yen a year.” I can show them a world that a young, handsome man could never show them. Having money gives you peace of mind, which makes you more accepting and generous. My ace often tells me: “You’re unlike anyone I’ve ever met, and as a man, you’re in a completely different category from men my age. I don’t think I’ll ever meet anyone like you again.” I’m sure the day will come when you meet someone like that too. Actually, isn’t life more interesting when there are such unusual worlds out there? Young women only fall for young men. Is it really fun living in such an ordinary world? “The Sky Island existed, didn’t it?” That was said by Marshall D. Teach—Blackbeard, the final boss of One Piece. I believe in the existence of Sky Island too. That said, having women other than my ace develop serious romantic feelings for me is genuinely troublesome.

I’m Aya, a female member. When I asked my papa, he gave me an answer similar to the questioner’s. He said that when he saw the news about a gravure idol who married Shigeru Joshima from a certain TOKI○ group, despite their roughly 24-year age difference. I wonder what the reality is. I don’t know anyone in that situation personally.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. Surely no one seriously falls in love in this kind of arrangement, right? I’m over 60, but even for me, a relationship with someone much younger is a little hard to imagine—not just for women, but for men too(笑) P.S. > There seem to be a lot of girls who grew up in troubled parent-child relationships. Are there any normal ones? ↑ My partner is more than 40 years younger than me, but she’s perfectly normal! She was an excellent student! Still, she doesn’t seem to get a boyfriend… Maybe she can’t? Or are her standards just too high…?
