I once saw another respondent write that, apparently, professionals are currently leaving just a little hair, and I thought it was a clever approach that could satisfy both men who like some hair and men who prefer completely smooth.
If you leave just a small, neatly trimmed patch in the center, you can say to men who like hair, “I have to keep a little bit of it, right?” They’ll probably be satisfied because there is still some hair.
Men who prefer completely smooth may not be entirely happy about even a little hair, but since it’s only a small amount, I feel it could serve as a reasonable compromise.
So, by leaving just a small, neatly trimmed patch in the center, it seems possible to accommodate both types of men.
Of course, if that’s what professionals are doing, there’s a chance you might be seen as trying to look professional.
However, considering that grooming this area has become so commonplace, I feel we’ve reached a point where no particular style necessarily makes someone look “professional,” so it should be fine.
