I’m a female member. I’d like to see how my finished profile video turned out. If I ask the staff, would they be able to send me the file? Men often tell me I come across differently from the video, and it’s been bothering me.

Maezawa from Shacho-shitsu here. These days, we generally don’t provide copies of photos or videos. We probably could have given them to you in the past, but some people started using photos taken at Universe at other establishments, so it became a rule that we shouldn’t hand over the data. Photos are protected by both portrait rights and copyright. Even if you’re in the picture, the copyright belongs to the person who took it, so you can’t use it elsewhere. Most people naturally assume that a photo of themselves belongs to them, so I suppose this situation is somewhat unavoidable. As a result, though, we’ve ended up not providing the data. Of course, depending on the circumstances, we may still be able to provide it, so it might be worth asking the staff—even if you don’t expect them to say yes. If you want to check your own video, I recommend asking to see it during your interview or when you have new photos taken. The staff are busy and may be thinking about the next interview, but that’s the only opportunity you’ll have to check it, so I think you should make sure they show it to you properly. You could also explain the situation and say something like: “Men often tell me that I look quite different from my video, and it’s been bothering me. I’d like to have it retaken. Could I get a new video shoot?” If you say that, you should be able to ask to check the video on the spot when it’s retaken. You might even want to ask if they can show you the previous one as well, though it may be difficult for them to do so.

They won’t give you the data. The same goes for photos. I believe female members can only view the photos on the first page they’re allowed to open. Marika
